Friends of The Ritz - Seed Funding Challenge

Supporting the rehabilitation of the historic 1929 Ritz Theatre

The first challenge for Friends of The Ritz is to help CCPATCH meet their first seed funding goal of $500,000.

**Any donation will qualify you for membership to "Friends of The Ritz." Individuals or corporations who donate $5000 or more by 1/31/2024 will become members of the Founders Circle.

About our Seed Funding Campaign:

CCPATCH is seeking $500,000 as seed funding to kick off the first phase of the revitalization of the historic Ritz Theatre. The first $230,000 in donations will be doubled because of another grant we have received from the National Park Service and Texas Historical Commission related to past hurricane damage. The “Harvey grant” is to be used specifically on repair to the exterior of the building that was damaged by hurricane Harvey and this grant is time sensitive (must raise the money to do the work, complete the work, pay for the work, and submit receipts for reimbursement by March 31, 2024).

Friends of the Ritz is a DBA of Corpus Christi PATCH, Inc. CCPATCH is a 501(c)3 organization. Donations to Friends of The Ritz, The Ritz Theatre, or CCPATCH are tax deductible. CCPATCH EIN is 20-2821925.

$500,000 will pay for:
  • OTJ’s first phases:
    • Building assessment and hiring the pro team
    • Conceptual master planning
    • Cost estimating
    • Final plan submission
  • Completing the exterior work identified in the THC grant:
    • Embedded steel repairs
    • Patch and seal cracks in brick veneer
    • Waterproofing exterior
  • Other immediate work needed:
    • Doors, windows, and access
    • Fire, safety, and security

NEXT STEPS:

  • Spring/Summer 2023:
    • Raise IMMEDIATE NEED, seed funding $500,000 for:
      • OTJ’s assessment, plan, and cost estimating ($102,000)
      • THC grant work ($230,000 matching/reimbursement grant - time sensitive)
      • Additional, immediate work needing to be done ($168,000)
      • April presentation and initial site visit with OTJ - completed 4/28/23
      • OTJ assessment phase - underway
      • Grant matching online campaign - underway
      • May 31st“Love Offering for The Ritz” event, 6:30-8pm (www.ccritz.com/love)
      • June 15th Friends of The Ritz Kickoff event at BUS: Bar Under the Sun
  • Fall/Winter 2023:
    • Fall event (details to be announced)
    • Exterior work underway for THC “Harvey” grant
  • 1st Quarter 2024:
    • Corpus Christi Songwriters Festival (February)
    • Complete THC grant work by March 31, 2024 to be eligible for reimbursement
